Late last night your Aunt Deya got into town! She was so excited to meet you, it was really hard for her not to get to see before today. We spent some time with you guys getting to know each other this morning, then went out for some West Seattle errands and lunch this afternoon.

Today was a beautiful day. One of the first real warm and sunny ones we’ve had this year! You and I went and met the knitters at Michelle’s house. We sat out on the deck in the sun and you were passed around so everyone who wanted to got a chance to hold you.

I think you gave me your first real smile today as well. I was making faces at you and talking to you and you smiled so big! I was so excited to see it!

Today your dad keeps talking about how much you’ve grown since he’s been gone. It’s really hard for him to be away from you right now, even if it is just for a few days! You change so fast right now that even a little bit of time makes a big difference.

I love this photo of you both even though it’s blurry!

Today your Nana had to go home. She was so sad to leave us! I was really sad to see her go as well. We had such a fantastic time just relaxing together, and it was great for her to get a chance to get to know you as a three week old!

Tonight your dad also came home! We were so excited to have him back, and he’s thrilled to be home as well. He missed us both a lot!

Today we had a pretty busy day. This morning we had my follow up appointment with Amy the midwife, and she said everything is looking good and I’m healing well! After our appointment, we stopped by Macy’s to look for a bathrobe since your dad really hates mine! We didn’t find one, but we did get a few cute outfits for you in the three month size. You needed some sleepers in that size since all we had was onesies and it’s still pretty cold here!

Once we got home, you and I took a nice little nap while Nana worked on her laptop and after we woke up we all went to knitting! Unfortunately it was a really small group tonight, only Jane came, but she was very happy to get to hold you.

Today you are 3 weeks old! This morning we hung out at home and relaxed with Nana. This afternoon we took you in to The Polyclinic so you could meet all my coworkers! They have all been dying to meet you and asking me when I was planning on bringing you in. Everyone thought you were adorable of course. You slept almost the whole time, even though everyone was passing you around and so many people were holding you!

I love this photo of you and your Nana, you both look so sweet!

This morning we hung out at home with Nana, and this afternoon we took you for your first shopping trip downtown. We figured out that your car seat works with your stroller, which is fantastic news. That’ll make it much easier for me to take you places without lugging your car seat around or having to take you out of it and lay you in the stroller when you’re sleeping.

Tonight we talked with your dad over skype again. We were so busy talking about you that we both forgot it was our wedding anniversary! We talked about it before he left (he made me a nice dinner and I knitted him a little monster) but we forgot about it on the actual day!

Today your dad left for Madison. We got up really early this morning so we could take him to the airport. On our way home we stopped at Target, then we took a nap since I didn’t think I could make it through the day without one. This afternoon your Nana got into town! We picked her up at the airport and stopped for a late lunch at West5. She is so excited to get to spend this week with you! On the way home from the airport she even sat in the back seat just so she could look at you all the way home.

Your birth certificate and social security card also arrived today, you’re really official! Tonight we skyped with your dad so he could get to see you even though he’s far away in Wisconsin.

Today was our last day with your dad before he has to leave for his training in Madison. We hung out at home relaxing and not doing much all day. Tonight your dad gave you your first haircut, followed by your first bath! You don’t have a ton of hair, but at the back it was a bit long at the neck and looked like a baby mullet. I saved a bit of it in an envelope as a keepsake. You really didn’t like the bath at all. I think that once you get a little more used to them though, you’ll enjoy them much more!

I made the little monster in the photo with you for your dad to take on his trip with him. Just a little anniversary present!

Today a bunch of your dad’s family came over to see you and hang out with us. Your Grandma and Grandpa Riddle were here, along with your Uncle Josh and Great-grandpa Al and Step Great-grandma Lorraine.

Al and Lorraine were so excited to meet you! They brought you two little shirts that say “Little Riddle” on them, very cute, and a really neat heirloom silver cup that has your name, birthday and stats at birth engraved on it! Your dad and I were really excited about that, hopefully it’ll be something that someday you pass on to your kids!

After everyone left you really didn’t want to sleep. I think you may be going through a bit of a growth spurt, because you really just wanted to eat every hour or so and only take tiny catnaps throughout the day.

Since it was one of the first really nice and warm days we’ve had in quite a while, your dad assembled the stroller and we took you for a walk through the neighborhood. You fussed a little bit, but it was great to get out in the sun!

(I love this photo of you and your grandpa. He loves holding you and you always seem pretty calm when he does!)
